Tooth Extraction
Careful removal when a tooth cannot be saved
Extraction is considered when a tooth is too damaged, loose or poorly placed to restore predictably. We numb the area and explain aftercare before you leave.

What is Tooth Extraction?
A tooth extraction removes a tooth from its socket. Simple extractions are done in the chair under local anaesthetic. Surgical extractions may be needed for broken or wisdom teeth.
When is it needed?
- A tooth that cannot be restored with a filling, root canal or crown
- Severe gum disease with a loose tooth
- Wisdom teeth causing repeated infection
- Orthodontic plans that require space

Tooth extraction — when removal is the right choice
Some teeth cannot be saved — severe decay, advanced gum disease, impaction or crowding before braces. Extraction is planned with anaesthetic and aftercare instructions so healing is as comfortable as possible.
Before and after removal
- X-rays show root shape and proximity to nerves
- Replacement options — implant, bridge or denture — are discussed when relevant
- Bite on gauze, avoid straws and smoking for 24 hours
- Swelling and mild soreness are normal for a few days
Painful or loose teeth need review. Note whether you take blood thinners in the reason field.
